Privacy Policy for PotatoPlayer

PotatoPlayer (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting user data. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and shared when you use the PotatoPlayer Android application.

1. About the App

PotatoPlayer is an all-in-one media application that combines:

  • Music player (offline playback of MP3, FLAC, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG, and more)
  • HD video player (MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, FLV, 3GP, WEBM, and more)
  • Ultra high-speed downloader for publicly accessible videos and audio from social media (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter/X, and others)
  • Video cutter and editor (trim, split, join, GIF creation)
  • Audio extractor
  • MP3 cutter and ringtone maker
  • Music equalizer with audio effects (bass boost and sound presets)

The app is intended for personal, non-commercial, lawful use only.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not:

  • Require user accounts or logins
  • Collect names, phone numbers, addresses, or emails
  • Access contacts, messages, or call logs
  • Collect payment or financial information

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

The app may collect limited, non-personal data through third-party services:

a) Advertising Data (Google AdMob)

PotatoPlayer uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. We do not use any third-party ad mediation networks.

Google AdMob may collect:

  • Device identifiers (Advertising ID / GAID)
  • Device type and OS version
  • Approximate location (country-level)
  • Interaction with ads

This data is used for:

  • Ad delivery
  • Ad personalization (where permitted by law and where you have consented)
  • Ad performance analytics

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we show a consent form (via Google's User Messaging Platform) on first launch that lets you accept or decline personalized advertising before any ads are requested.

b) Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand:

  • App usage patterns
  • Screen visits
  • Feature performance
  • Crash and error reports

All analytics data is aggregated and is not used to personally identify you.

c) App Usage & Reports (PotatoPlayer service)

To understand feature usage and keep the app reliable, the app sends a small amount of anonymous data to our own service:

  • Anonymous usage events — the name of the screen, feature, ad placement, or download action you use, plus the app version and a timestamp. These are not tied to your identity.
  • In-app reports — if you send a bug report, feature request, or error report, we store the text you provide along with the app version and device model so we can investigate and fix issues.

This data is deleted automatically on a rolling schedule (raw usage events within 90 days; aggregated counts within about 13 months). Your media files are never sent to our service — see Section 3.

d) Purchases & Premium (Google Play Billing)

PotatoPlayer offers an optional Premium subscription that removes ads. All purchases and payments are processed entirely by Google Play Billing — we never receive or store your card, bank, or payment details. Google manages the transaction and retains your purchase history under its own privacy policy. The app only checks whether an active subscription exists (in order to remove ads) and is not linked to your name or any personal account.

3. Downloaded & Local Files

  • All files downloaded, generated, or edited (audio/video/GIF) remain on your device
  • We do not upload or store your files on any server
  • We do not scan, read, or transmit your local media

You are solely responsible for:

  • Downloaded content
  • Compliance with copyright laws
  • Proper usage of downloaded, extracted, or edited audio and video files

4. Legal & Copyright Responsibility

  • The app is designed for lawful use only
  • PotatoPlayer only facilitates downloading publicly accessible content
  • Users must ensure they have the right to download, extract, or edit content
  • Downloading copyrighted content without permission may be illegal in your country
  • The developer is not responsible for misuse of the app

5. Age Requirement

PotatoPlayer is not intended for children under 13.

By using this app, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 13 years old, or
  • You meet the minimum digital consent age in your country

6. GDPR & User Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • Right to access collected data
  • Right to request deletion of analytics-related data
  • Right to opt out of personalized ads

If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) is shown on first launch so you can grant or decline consent for personalized ads. You can also limit ad personalization at any time from your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), where you may reset or delete your Advertising ID.

Anonymous usage data is deleted automatically on a rolling schedule (see Section 2.2c). You can also request deletion at any time — see our Data Deletion page or contact us (Section 10).

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Limited, non-personal data (such as the Advertising ID, device information, and ad/app interaction events) may be shared with the following third-party partner strictly for advertising and analytics, under its own privacy policy:

Google processes this data in accordance with its own privacy policy. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect user data, but please note:

  • No system is 100% secure
  • The app is provided “as is”
  • We are not liable for data loss or device issues beyond our control

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

  • Updates will be reflected inside the app
  • Continued use of the app means acceptance of the revised policy
